Looking back over the exciting growth in filmmaking in Mississippi, a special exhibit will be held at the Powerhouse Community Arts Center February 15-March 7.
The Yoknapatawpha Arts Council is partnering with Oxford Film Festival to host a special exhibit of photos and posters of films made in Mississippi. Images from behind the scenes and posters from films made in Mississippi in the past 5 years are requested for a special exhibit.
"We are so excited to showcase still photography and graphic design as it pertains to filmmaking with this special exhibit that highlights movies made in Mississippi," Oxford Film Festival Executive Director Melanie Addington said. "I hope filmmakers from throughout the state will be encouraged to take part and show us their behind the scenes efforts and great posters."
Images must be ready to hang (framed with a hook hanger or alternate) and sent to the Powerhouse Community Arts Center no later than Friday, February 12 at 5 p.m. Art can be shipped by FedEx or UPS or dropped at the Powerhouse at 413 South 14th Street, Oxford, MS 38655.
The art will be on display from February 15-March 7 and a special filmmaker reception will be held during the film festival on Friday, February 19 at 11 a.m. A second reception will be held on Tuesday, February 23 as part of the Art Crawl in Oxford.
